Brian D. Alton is a member with McClay • Alton, P.L.L.P. law firm. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls where he received his undergraduate degree. He received his J.D. from Hamline University. He was first admitted to the bar in Wisconsin in 1982 as well as the Western District of Wisconsin U.S. District court. He was admitted to the bar in Minnesota as well as the District of Minnesota U.S. District Court in 1983. In 1991, he was admitted to the Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals.

Brian and his wife, Bonnie, live in St. Paul. His practice includes commercial law, real estate, and estate planning. Alton is a member of both the Minnesota and Wisconsin State Bar Associations. Being licensed to practice law in Wisconsin allows him to assist clients across state lines, whether they live in Minnesota or Wisconsin.

Committed to his community, Brian served as a member of the St. Paul Board of Zoning Appeals for several years and on the City of St. Paul Planning Commission for 11 years, 4 of those years serving as Chairman. His experience with the City, zoning and land use law and regulation is an important asset for clients involved in real estate related matters. Brian is currently a member of the City of St. Paul Charter Commission.

Brian also served on the Grand Avenue Business Association as a member of the board of directors and as President, was a member of the board and President of the Summit Hill Association/District 16 Planning Council, and worked with the Mediation Center in Minneapolis. He has also served as a member of the Board of Trustees for the Jeremiah Program and of The House of Hope Presbyterian Church. He is a member of the St. Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, the Midway Chamber of Commerce and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Alumni Association Advisory Board.
